Birmingham residents can now view members of their city council in debates about local issues and topical questions, and hear audio recordings of older meetings, by logging on to the website Ustream at: Local Liberal Democrat councillor Ann Holtom (Tyburn Ward) has welcomed the move as a useful addition to local democracy.

Cllr Holtom said: "Birmingham residents elect councillors to represent them in the decisions which have to be taken to run the City. It is residents' right to see councillors in action in the chamber so they can judge the people they voted for and so they can see and hear first-hand what issues are being brought before the council and how they affect their lives. Internet streaming makes this possible for so many more residents."
