Cllr Ann Holtom joined local residents and campaigners for Help for Heroes, the charity which raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country, at the Castle Pool in Castle Vale on 24 October. A marathon swim was organised by two young brothers who undertook to swim 10,000 metres to raise funds for the servicemen's charity and Ann was pleased to join Help for Heroes supporters from our area who turned out to cheer on the brothers and to give their backing to this worthy cause.
Cllr Holtom said: "Our servicemen and women put their lives on the line to protect their fellow citizens. Many pay the ultimate sacrifice. Others find their lives altered beyond recognition through injuries received in the line of duty. It is right and proper that our heroes are suitably honoured and given the assistance they need. Help for Heroes is a wonderful charity and I am privileged to have been able to support it at Castle Vale marathon swim."
