Ann Holtom and Richard Brighton-Knight thank their supporters

After another fascinating parliamentary campaign in Erdington and Sutton Coldfield and in Ann's local fight in Tyburn Ward, both Ann Holtom and Richard Brighton-Knight would like to pass on their sincere thanks to all of those who supported the Liberal Democrats in the recent elections.

Ann and Richard acknowledge that, on both a local and national scale, these have been a difficult set of results for our party. However, it's their belief that times of trouble can be somehow reinvigorating. The Liberal Democrats believe in campaigning for and with people in their communities all year round, not just at election time. The local party remains as committed as ever to ensuring that the spirit of opportunity and fairness for all does not go ignored in our area and we will continue to focus on the issues which matter most to local people.

Across Sutton Coldfield and Erdington, Liberal Democrat activists also remain more dedicated than ever to ensuring that Liberal voices within their community are heard.

At the time of writing, more than 12,000 people around the country have committed to preserving Liberal values by joining our party since polls closed, and there really has been no better time to get involved and play a part in the Liberal Democrat fightback. Those joining now will be entitled to vote in the leadership contest being fought to replace Nick Clegg.

Anyone wishing to join this exciting movement can visit the party's website at: to find out more and to join the party.

In the meantime Ann, Richard and all the Lib Dem candidates for the local elections thank you again for your support.
